Cake released their new album Showroom of Compassion today. It's amazing. The single they're pushing right now is "Sick of You" which I think is good, but personally I thought this live rendition of "Long Time" showcased what they did with the album better. The sound quality is really good for a live performance but it's really shaky.. try not to get nauseas.

One of my favorite instrumental songs ever is Frank Zappa's Peaches en Regalia. The symphonic original is complex and strange, but of course that would be no task for Phish. They played this one in June of 1989 and I think it's one of the best Zappa covers I've heard in a while. Definitely one that highlights the chemistry between Page and Trey. They played it last December too but the shaky vintage version adds a little more character. I think Trey and Dweezil Zappa (Frank's son) are the only ones who have truly done the guitar melody justice. worrrd up. Hope you like it.
Rhythm Devils are a project by Dead percussionists Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. In an interview with JamBase, Hart said "Our name was bestowed upon us by Garcia. Jerry, in one of his funny moods, said 'you guys are the rhythm devils.'" And he couldn't have been more accurate. Although most of their stuff focuses on the Dead's catalog that they themselves contributed to, they've come out with some really cool original pieces. Anyway this one really blew me away. Not sure if the vocalist is the best addition to the ensemble overall but she adds a little flavor to the song for sure.
