If you still yearn for that classic hip-hop sound of the 90′s, the debut album from Brooklyn & Philly’s, Rashad & Confidence, is definitely a must have. Grab it on iTunes. Here's a sample.
Plants and Animals is an indie-rock band from Canada, eh? This song is super catchy if ya know what I'm talkin' aboot, eh? These guys are relatively new to the spotlight, but their upcoming album, The End of That, should help boost some popularity, eh?
Here's another Nujabes track off his second album Modal Soul. According to the all knowing wikipedia (who I feel is trying to steal my lunch money with their recent ad campaign), Feather is the most popular Nujabes track, probably due to the fact that it is sick. A Nujabes station on Pandora will net you some sick tunes so give it a shot.
So if you're a Roots fan like I am, their newly released album, Undun, is about as good as it gets. Typical of The Roots' style, it has a kick-ass combination of hip-hop and jazz. I've posted a couple of leaks earlier this year (Tip The Scale and Make My), but the complete album blows me away.
In particular, "Kool On" and "The OtherSide" are my favorites. But I also can't help but love the finale (the last four songs) of the album. It features some heavy piano playing in a jazzy/Miles Davis-esque fashion, featuring the great Sufjan Stevens.
Because I can find a single one of the songs besides this one due to copyright stuff, I'll show you this taxidermy commercial instead. Happy Hunting and go buy the album.
This viral video encompasses two of the dopest things in life: Sour Patch Kids and Method Man. First they're sour, then they're sweet, then they're straight G's...
Nujabes was a Japenese DJ, who collaborated on a wide range of musical endeavors. He passed away last February (2010) from a car accident after exiting a subway in Japan. I enjoy all of his music (a lot of which is ambient) but my favorite is the albums that he produced with american lo-fi rappers titled Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul. The site I used to post music has been down for a while, and I cant find these songs anywhere else, so I'll post the one I could find from Metaphorical Music.
Yep, it's that time again. Studying our procrastinating, pathetic little dongs off. And during this time, I want to be anywhere butt the library. Anywhere. I would rather be feeding baby food to a 94-year-old leper than reading these damn textbooks. But there's one thing that could make me forget about how much this sucks (besides a big fix of the H-bomb), and that's these super soothing ambient beats.
God speed, fellow students...
The name of this insane game is freeboarding. It's kind of like a cross between longboarding and skateboarding, but it looks about 200x more dangerous. This video has also got a dope song to accompany this shenanigans.
